She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry V. Thompson and Mae V. Schaeffer Thompson; her husband Albert "Al" Deaton; and her brothers, John Charles Thompson and Myron.

She is survived by: her daughter Teresa Prefountain (Dan) of Rushville; and her grandchildren, Kate Lawson (Matthew) of Rock Island, Daniel Prefountain of Rushville and Cami Prefountain of Rushville. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
