He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Epping and Marie Pohlmann Epping; his daughter Mary; and his brother Robert Epping. He is survived by: his wife Veronica "Bonnie" Epping of Beardstown; his grandchildren, Allison Ginn (Trevor), Rebecca Baker (Justin), Ashley Epping, Travis Epping (Adrianna), Brian Hemphill (Maggie), Amy Hemphill, Megan Whitlow, Shelly Colin (Jeff), Margaret Whitlow, Brandon Epping (Rachel), Beth Epping, Betsy Perry (Ryan) and Dalton Epping; his sisters, Mary Lou Pacha of Iowa, Pat Ripley of Tennessee, Donald Epping (Sue) of Iowa, Richard Epping (Pauline) of Iowa, Gene Epping of Iowa and Paul Epping (Sharon) of Indiana; and also, John "Scott" Epping (Ann) of Peoria, Randy Epping (Jamie), Joan Whitlow (Roger) and David Epping (Mary Ann) of Beardstown. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
