He was predeceased by: his parents, Ashley Cox and Alzie Cox; his wife Mary Ann; his daughter Tina Brockman; and his grandchild Malcom.
He is survived by: his former wife Doris; his children, Allyn Cox (Kim), Steve Brockman (Donna), Jeffery Herring (Londa), Allison Cox-Gatlin, Lanita Cox and Dawn Cox; his girlfriend Roberta "Bobbie" Petersdorf; and his brother Rufus Cox. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.
