Robert was born July 20, 1937, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin the son of Emil Gustav and Gelina (Flaten) Halling. Robert was united in marriage to Carole Schneider July 17, 1955, in Wabasha, Minnesota.
Robert was raised in the normal middle class midwestern Wisconsin family where he excelled as a youth in athletics. Bob had a huge infatuation for all sports, but he held a special place for baseball. Bob was both a Milwaukee Braves fan and a Chicago Cubs fan. Although Bob had a very successful career as a production Manager; Bob's passion was to be an active father and grandfather. He coached youth baseball for many years while giving back to the community and helping his and all kids be their very best. Some of his proudest moments was following his sons and his grandchildren throughout their own sporting careers. Bob was always looking out for his community and all citizens; he was an active member of the Lions Club where he enjoyed many years of service work. He was also a huge contributor and supporter of all West Aurora Athletics.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Carole; three sons, Jeff (Linda) Halling, of Halfway, MO, Charlie (Laurie Quindel) Halling, of Elgin, IL, and Jim (Beth) Halling, Dunn Loring, VA; six grandchildren, Chris Halling, Erin Halling, Brian Halling, Meagan (Randy) White, and Jace and Hudson Halling; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Jellea and his brother Glenn Halling.
A private celebration of Robert's life was held, and he was laid to rest in West Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, IL. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Robert's name may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, https://www.jdrf.org. This is a sad loss for all Flatens, too. He was an impressive character and we'll miss knowing he's there. Georgia Godfrey I never got a chance to meet Bob. But he touched the life of the person I love most in this world greatly. He will always be loved, missed, and cherished.
Thank you for Bob, for all the great contributions you made to this world.
And above all else family is your greatest treasure. Chris Halling The best Grandpa any Grandkid could ever ask for.
