She was predeceased by: her parents, Lyle Pettenger and Katherine Pettenger (Beemer); her brother Wilbur Pettenger; and her husband John Barrett. She is survived by: her children, Tracy Barrett and Nancy Barrett (Nance Sparks); and her daughter-in-law Debra Barrett. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a countryside full of friends.

Arlene's family would ask in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice in Arlene's name.
