He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Thornton and Rema Thornton (McGaha); and his brother James Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Judy Glossick; his sons, Kevin Thornton (Ratnara) of Naperville, IL and Patrick Thornton (Jill) of Mapleton; his grandchildren, Rachel of Frederick, CO, Caitlin of Los Angeles, CA, Kyleigh of Greenville, SC, Thomas of Aurora, CO and Ryan of Oxford, MS; and his siblings, Margaret Belda (John) and Troy Thornton (Pat) of Newport, TN..

Memorials may be made to the Illinois Cancer Center on Rt. 91 or TAPS.
