He was predeceased by: his parents, Lauriano Vargas and Maria Rivera; and his siblings, Pedro Rivera (Enriqueta) and Beatriz Rivera (late Miquel). He is survived by: his wife Josefina Rivera; his sons, Ricardo (Marine), Jesus (Zulema) and Alex; his grandchildren, James, Jesse, Julie, Jesus, Emily and Sofia; and his siblings, Jose Angel Rivera (Maria), Francisca Rivera (Antonia), Ofelia Escarcega (Alfonzo), Cruz Herrera (Carmelo) and Valentina Fernandez (Julian).
