He was predeceased by: his parents, Marie Thoms (Henning) and Alroy Thoms. He is survived by: his son-in-law Steven Crooke of South Africa; his grandsons, Jaden (Ethan) and Gpa; his wife Jeannine (Aumond); his children, Catherine, Alison and Steven; his grandson Ethan; his brothers, John and Pete; and his sisters-in-law, Jean Thoms and Jackie English. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He played tennis until he was 88, only stopping when the club closed due to the pandemic.
