With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Helen Laura Pauline Wachholz Messerschmidt of Barrington, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 2, 2025 at the age of 96. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elizabeth Wachholz and Conrad John Stephen Wachholz; her husband Lester Paul Messerschmidt; and her siblings, Paul Wachholz, John Wachholz, Magdalene Dumke, Edward Wachholz, Elenore Pipes, Mary Wachholz and Ruth MacPhail.
She is survived by: her sons, Paul Steven (Julie), John Frederick (Christine) and James Martin (Kris); and her grandchildren, David (Margot), Laura Leduc (Nick), Sarah, Elizabeth, Andrew Messerschmidt and Helen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church (24500 N Old McHenry Rd, Hawthorn Woods, IL 60047). A burial will be held on Monday, January 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the East Cemetery.
