He was predeceased by: his parent Ferdinand "Ferd"; his children-in-law, Bob Herbst and Wanda Lager; his siblings, Gervase "Gerp" Lager and Eileen Hegger (Charles); his brother-in-law Leroy Zimmermann; and his mother-in-law Joseph.
He is survived by: his parent Veronica "Rone"; his spouses, Ruth and June; his children, Lynn Rinella (Bob) of Aviston, Larry Lager (Connie) of Aviston, Elaine Herbst of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jackie Chiarolanza (Gerard "Charlie") and Gerard "Gerry" Lager (Kay) of Aviston; his grandchildren, Tony Rinella (Jamie), Paul Rinella (Bailey), Lee Rinella (Laura), Robby Herbst (Krystal), Cathryn Herbst, Clare Chiarolanza (Cory Arentsen), Grace Chiarolanza, Hannah Lager, Madeline Lager and Sophia Lager; his great grandchildren, Harper Rinella, Samantha Rinella, James Rinella, Luke Rinella, Eleanor Rinella and Benjamin Rinella; his siblings, Virginia Lee Zimmermann of Trenton and Floyd Lager of Glendale, CA; and his brothers-in-law, Sylvia Henken (Art) of Carlyle, Joanne Lampe (James "Stix") of Germantown, Esther Norrenberns (Pat) of Carlyle, Anita Rakers (Marvin) of Damiansville, James Heimann (Kathie) of Germantown and Joseph "Star" Heimann (Netsie) of Germantown.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Mater Dei Catholic High School or to the PSR Program at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home in Breese who is serving the Lager family.
