She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Schmidt and Flora Arndt Schmidt; her husband Robert Weldon Carter; her son Roby; and her brother Carl Schmidt.
She is survived by: her daughters, Susan Berdelle (Jim) of Downers Grove, IL and Carol Banks of Carbondale; her foster son John Grigaliunas of Springfield, IL; her grandchildren, Brian Wilson (Courtney) of Ava, Robi Stephenson (John) of Ava, Russell Fu (Carla) of Naperville, IL, Andrew Banks (Sarah Newman) of Carbondale and Tommy Banks of Anna; her stepgranddaughter Jennifer Koch (Jason) of LaFayette, IN; and her great grandchildren, Trenton, Kinion, Abi, Preston, Parker, Otto, Maeve, Alexis and Meredith. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Looney Springs Cemetery, Campbell Hill, with Pastor Gerald Wright officiating.
