He was predeceased by: his parents, George Truhlar and Georgiana Truhlar; and his brother Carl Truhlar (Ruth). He is survived by: his siblings, George Truhlar, Scott Truhlar (Lori Geraci), Georgette Truhlar, Diane Hernandez-Truhlar (Lupe) and Cherie Truhlar; his nieces and nephews, Carl Truhlar, Steven and Tracey Fuller; his pet Molly; and also Ashley Truhlar.
