He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernardo Rivera and Aurelia Rivera (Aponte); and his wife Maria Duran. He is survived by: his children, Lou Rivera-Hill (Devon), Joe Rivera and Susie Rivera Figueroa (David); his grandchildren, William, Elliott Perez (Yesenia), Joe L. Rivera, Jr. (Huendy), Justin E. Rivera (Lesley), Elisa and David E. Figueroa; his great grandchildren, Ezekiel, Adriel, Leticia, Alianna, Royal, Xavier, Josiah and Raul; his sister Ines Rivera; and his close friend Maria Sanchez. He is also survived by her loving family as well as many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
