He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph McKenzie and Margaret McKenzie (Powers); his wife Doris Elaine Grimes; his son Timothy McKenzie; his stepmother Velma; his parents-in-law, Roy and Opal Grimes; and his in-laws, Marie Calsyn (Frank), Marvin Grimes (Etta Mae), Kathryn Johannsen (Fred), Kenneth Grimes (Charlene), Merle Grimes, Bonnie Haley (Bill), Harold Grimes (Alice), Viva Dirks (Wayne) and Marvin Danielson.

He is survived by: his children, Sue Cotten (Joe), Jeff McKenzie (Connie), Scott McKenzie (Lilian Li) and Jim McKenzie (Charlene); his grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, Sean McKenzie, Noah, Matthew Cotten, Zach and Jieni Li; and his siblings, Roberta Danielson and Robert McKenzie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
