He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Benson and Edith Benson; his wife Ruth Benson; his sister Elaine Verner; and his son-in-law Steve Spears.
He is survived by: his daughters, Barb Carson (Chuck) of Phoenix, AZ, Diane Benson of Geneva, IL, Janet Spears of Yorkville, IL, Karen Hutton (Jim) of Arlington Heights, IL, Beth Ulrich (Jeff) of Sugar Grove, IL and Mary Bohr (Ray) of Aurora, IL.; his grandchildren, Michael Hutton (Nicole), Kolette McGary (Matt), Jordan Bohr (Alec Anderson), Cally Hutton and Katie Ulrich; his great grandchildren, Amelia Hutton, Vivienne McGary, Madelyn McGary, Quinn Anderson and Theodore Hutton (Teddy); and his sister Carol Nelson (Bob) of DeKalb, IL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
