He was predeceased by: his parents, Eunice Ford Scantlen of California and Russell Scantlen; and his son Mitchell Scantlen of California. He is survived by: his wife Stephanie Rusnak; his daughters, Tonia Dawn Mowrer (Michael) of Nachusa and Stephanie Scantlen Gardner (Adam) of Aurora; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Mowrer, Abigail Mowrer, Charles Gardner and Anthony Mowrer; and his children, Scott Scantlen of Minnesota and Meridith Harman of Canada.
