She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Steve Bodnar and Mary Mottershaw Bodnar; her husband Charles Thornton; her children, Lisa Jones (Brad), Jim Yagow (Sally) and Steven Thompson (Sonia); and her sister Martha Searcy. She was also cherished by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
