He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman William and Vera Christine Sumpter (Jackson); his daughter Susan Sumpter-Zoschke; and his siblings, David L. Sumpter and Sharon Dittmer.
He is survived by: his wife Josephine Elizabeth "Betty" (Sendig); his son David Sumpter of Litchfield; his sister Norma "Jean" Chism of Chesterfield, IL; his grandchildren, Jennifer Rimar (Craig), Steven Sumpter (Britanie), Kristina Waggoner (Josh), Daniel Sumpter (Sarah), Jonathan Sumpter (Kimberly) and Samantha Hamilton (Dennis); his great grandchildren, Madison, Molly, Morgan Rimar, Nora Sumpter, Eli, Isaak Waggoner, Levi, Hannah Sumpter, Brooklynn Sumpter, Zoey of Dennis, IV and Olivia Hamilton; and his pet Lucky Mr. He is also survived by Several nieces and nephews.
