He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Mapes and Dorothy Mapes (Fowler); his grandson Zane Mapes; his great grandchild Addison Bros; and his sister Dianne DeWitte.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Lively; his children, Jason Mapes (Nickole), Hugh Lively (Elizabeth) of Spencer, IA and Elizabeth Lively (Al Dale); his grandchildren, Ryne Mapes, Taelyn Mapes, Elyse Mapes, Zak Mapes, James "Mike" Lively, Jennifer Bros, Robert Bros and J. C. Bros; and his brothers, Roger Mapes (Linda) and John Mapes (Jo) of Atkinson, IL.. He is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren.
