James P. Yerkey Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James P. Yerkey of Atkinson, Illinois, who passed away on January 17, 2025 at the age of 85. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James P. Yerkey to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Yerkey and Louise Yerkey (Parkman); his son Timothy Yerkey; his brother Thomas Yerkey; his sister-in-law Lois Schulmeister; and his cousins, Blaine and Dwight Shoemaker.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Yerkey; his daughter Tina Poel (David) of Atkinson; his daughter-in-law Sara Yerkey of Geneseo; his siblings-in-law, Ed Schulmeister of Crystal Lake, IL and Karen Yerkey of Salida, CO; his grandchildren, Allison Donaldson (Garrett), Claire Yerkey, Emma Yerkey, Julia Poel and Anna Poel; and his great grandchildren, Noah, Gloria and Elijah Donaldson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vandemore Funeral Home - Geneseo (580 E Ogden Ave, Geneseo, IL 61254). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Concordia Lutheran Church (316 S Oakwood Ave, Geneseo, IL 61254).
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the James P. Yerkey Memorial Fund.
