He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Wayne Coartney and Mary Elizabeth Coartney (Mackenzie); and his grandparents, Issac Ceif (Bill), Flossie Childress Coartney, Edgar and Esther McKenzie (Rodgers).

He is survived by: his wife Mary Jo Coartney of Ashmore, IL; his children, Amanda Jo Gleckler (Chris) of Paris, IL and Kelly Douglas (Tori) of Ashmore, IL; his grandsons, Nicholas Allen Coartney, Mathew Douglas Coartney and Ethan Douglas Glecker; and his siblings, Leland Duane "Bud" Coartney of Tucson, AZ, Donald Gary Coartney (Susan) of Queen Creek, AZ, Karen Sue Coartney of Charleston, IL and Carl Rex Coartney of Fremont, NE.. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
