He was predeceased by: his parents, John Amato and Rose Amato; his wife Catherine Margaret Amato; his siblings, Mike Amato (late Antionette "Toni"), Tony "Curly" Amato, Salvatore "Sam" Amato, Rose "Dolly" Romano (late Tony) and Annabelle Peszynski (late Dick); and his half-siblings, Mary, Alice and John.

He is survived by: his children, Maricay Willis (James) and John Amato (Rebecca); his grandsons, Gus and Max Willis; and his sister-in-law Joan Amato.
