He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ernst and Ella Ernst (Brown); his wife Joan; his siblings, Frank, Fred, Roy, Robert and Bernice; and his grandson Vernon Vondra Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Mary Ann Vondra (Vern), Monica Stephan (Larry), Julie (Kurt Silvis) of Midland, MI, John Ernst of Apple River, Tom Ernst (Donna) of Apple River and Rob of Apple River; his sister Betty Levy of Binghamton, NY; his sister-in-law Jean Ernst of Valparaiso, IN; and his daughter-in-law Karen. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 24 great grand children.
