It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Kay Hammer of Apple River, Illinois, born in Galena, Illinois, who passed away on August 24, 2021, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Irvin Childs and Dorothy Childs (Sproule); her husband Robert C. Hammer; her sisters, Nancy Steinle (Brownie) of Galena, Shirley Hillary (Dale) of Galena and Mary Childs of Galena; her granddaughter Lynnette Marie Hammer; her aunt Helene Allen; and her cousin Judy Esterline.

She is survived by: her sons, Apple River, Ronald of Apple River and Richard (Mary) of Apple River; her grandchildren, Keith (Brittany) of Dubuque, Megan (Mike Broege) of Apple River, Seth (Angel Marzofka) of Apple River and Tristen Travis (Ryan) of Scales Mound; and her great grandchildren, Charlie, Kyle, Faith Broege of Apple River, Rhett and Wyatt Travis of Scales Mound.
