We are sad to announce that on February 2, 2024, at the age of 91, Sophia Thain of Antioch, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Kosta Lazaraton and Anezina Lazaraton; her siblings, Mary, Ted and Dan; and her husband Alan Lyman Thain.
She is survived by: her sons, John Alexander Thain (Carmen) of Rye, NY, Dennis Alan Thain (Julianne) of Royal Oak, MI and Robert Thain (Denise) of Caseyville, IL; and her grandchildren, Alexander Thain (Tracy) of Pacific Palisades, CA, Nicole McHugh (Sam) of Harrison, NY, Victoria Gioia (Greg) of Los Angeles, CA, Zachary Thain (Karly) of New York, NY, Alan Thain (Laura) of Royal Oak, MI, Max Thain (Lisa) of Northlake, TX, Rachel Thain-Rosenthal (Dan) of Arlington Heights, IL and Jack Thain of Caseyville, IL. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
She was a truly wonderful cook who was always making meals from scratch for her family as well as often donating home-cooked meals for the local shelter.
