He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Gower and Virginia Donaldson; his son Joseph Frederick Gower; his uncle Orlin Donaldson; his cousin Jo Ann Harmon; and his son-in-law John Bement.
He is survived by: his daughters, Elaine Gower-Clark (David Clark), Kathy Bement of Decatur, IL and Melissa Gower (Eddie Cargo) of Rantoul, IL; his granddaughters, Katelyn Bement and Grace Gower; his stepgrandchildren, LeAnne Bement, Kyle Clark, Will Clark and Sarah Clark; his stepgreat-grandson Stephen Bement; his cousins, Kate Miller of Elgin, IL, Barbara Totten of Jasper, GA, Kenneth Gower of Scottsboro, AL and Joe Gower of Olney, IL; and his wife Betty Banko.
His family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to an organization near and dear to Eric's heart, the "Oblong Children's Christian Home".
