He was predeceased by: his parents, Lavaughn Shaffner and Verlie Shaffner (Lingafelter); his stepfather Ansel Buckner; and his sister Joan Nichols. He is survived by: his wife Diana Smith; his sons, Terry Shaffner of Oblong, IL and Eric (Kimberly Shaffner) of Annapolis, IL; his granddaughter MaKayla Shaffner of Robinson, IL; his stepgrandchildren, Amy (Brandon Shindler) of Jacksonville, FL and Joshua Woodward of Indianapolis, IN; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Ava and Jemma Shindler; his nephew Michael Flynn of Robinson, IL; and his niece Carla (Walter Waddle) of McKenzie, TN.
