He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ford and Anna Elizabeth Cates (Hubach); and his wife Carolyn Cates. He is survived by: his sons, Jeff Cates (Kim) of Cobden, Tracy Cates of Anna and Patrick Cates (Laura) of Cobden; his granddaughters, Jessica Cates (Bryan Todd) and Samantha Cates; his great grandchildren, Jamie Ford and Creighton Todd; and his siblings, Gaylon Cates (Clara) of Cobden, Homer Cates of Fayetteville and Ginny Stephenson (Charles) of Marion. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
