He is survived by: his children, Tish Link (Bob) of Alvin, IL, Patches "Peanut" Reeves (Chris) of Lexington, KY and Jason Herron (Stephanie) of Potomac, IL; his siblings, Joann Alexander (Gordan) of Jamesburg, IL, Barbara Gastent (Chuck) of Westville, IL, Brenda Forshire (Bill) of Danville, IL, Janet JaRue of Columbia and Jeffrey Herron (Kelly) of Columbia, KY; his grandchildren, Justin Olson (Katey), Bailey Pierce (Steve) of Covington, IN, Shelby Jones (Trevor) of Cynthiana, KY, Charley Shoaf (Sam) of Whitestown, IN, Jacob Link (Elizabeth) of Alvin, IL, Kenzy Tucker (Knox) of Kalamazoo, MI, Rachel Link (Cooper) of Tilton, IL, Matthew Link (Lilly) of Hoopeston, IL, Amanda Shepherd (Allan) of Danville, IL, Taylor Grey (Emerson) of Crawfordsville, IN, Riley Bishop (Johana) of Sweden, Jonathan Reeves of Sullivan, IN, Jordan Reeves of Lexington, KY and Josie Reeves of Lexington, KY; his great grandchildren, Tyler Adam, Serenity Link, Journee Link, Benny Webb Jr., Oliver Pierce, Avery Pierce, Delaney Shoaf, Rory Shoaf, Poppy Olson, Hazel Grey, Parker Bishop, Conner Reeves, Nikolas Shepherd and Caden Shepherd; and his great great grandchildren, Lylee, Easton and Ava Shepherd. He is also survived by numerous brothers-in law, sisters-in law, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home (427 E Main St, Hoopeston, IL 60942). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Gene to the Alvin Church of God Youth Camp.
