He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward C. Swanson and Avis M. Swanson (Quanstrom); his former wife Connie Anderson; his son Dallas of Altona; his wife Becky Welch; his son Chad Swanson (Jessica) of Altona; his grandchildren, Haylee Smith (Tyler), Becca Swanson, Ryan Swanson, Paige Swanson (Dewey Holden) and Lizzy Swanson; and his great grandchild Truit John.

Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
