Though Richard may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Alfred and Malinda Thelma Slimick (Honaker); his daughter Kathy Sue Hawkins (Slimick); his brothers, Charles Slimick and Robert Slimick; and his nephew Terry Slimick.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley M. Wood of Alton; his granddaughter Ashleigh Dixon (Adam) of Georgia; his great grandchildren, Jackson and Tucker; his brother Thomas Slimick; and his nephew Darrell Slimick (Judy). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a special caregiver.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Gray Funeral Home (205 E Lorena Ave, Wood River, IL 62095). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
