We bid farewell to Ray Alven Basden (Alton, Illinois), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on June 3, 2024 at the age of 88. Ray Alven touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Basden and Lena Basden (Smith); and his siblings, Paul, Eugene, Daniel, Andrew, Marcella Parker, Marylou Ewing, Ruth Woods and Shirley Aud.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kathryn Dennis (Lawrence) and Rebecca Basden; his grandchildren, Matthew Dennis (Kelly), Erin Salkeld (Josh) and Samuel Dennis (Maddie); his great grandchildren, Jack Salkeld, Madelyn Dennis, Miley Salkeld, Emersyn Dennis, Blakely Dennis and Betty Salkeld; and his siblings, Timothy Basden, Esther Parker, Barb Woods and Alice Gurley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
