He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernis McCoy and Agnes McCoy (Menke); his wife Coleen; his son Daniel Kevin McCoy; his grandson Shawn McCoy; and his siblings-in-law, Greta McCoy, Charlotte Jackson and John Jackson.

He is survived by: his children, James "Jay" McCoy (Jeannie) of Worden, IL, Denis McCoy (Sherry) of Edwardsville, IL, David McCoy (JoAnn) of Dorsey, IL and Cheryl Meikamp of Edwardsvile, IL; his brother Robert McCoy of Holiday Shores, IL; and his daughter-in-law Janelle McCoy of Dorsey, IL. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

“My mom just told me that your dad passed. I am so sorry for your loss. He was one of a kind and I will never forget him driving past the house and honking to say hi.
