With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Laura Rose Bechtold (Alton, Illinois), born in East Alton, Illinois, who passed away on June 14, 2023 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William R. Wunderlich and Emma Wunderlich (Roderfeld); her husband Elmer James Bechtold; her sons, David, Stephan and Timothy Bechtold; her son-in-law Pat Wheeler; her granddaughter Kylie Bechtold; her siblings, Lillian (Lawrence Hunn), John (Verna Wunderlich), Kenneth (Ethel Wunderlich), Wynona (Cyril Beckham), Eileen (John Hayes), Tom (LaVerne Wunderlich), Charles (Bernadine Wunderlich), Lawrence (Myrt Wunderlich), Victor Wunderlich and Catherine (Bob Krueger); and her parents-in-law, Bernard, Pauline Bechtold, Lavina, Bob Rue, Francis, Maxine Bechtold, Albert, Agnes Bechtold, Charles, Helen Bechtold, Clarence, Bernita Bechtold, Dorothy, Fred Carlisle and Joe Brass.
She is survived by: her children, Marcia Wheeler of Godfrey, Mark Bechtold (Karen) of Godfrey and Michael Bechtold (Susie) of Godfrey; her daughter-in-law Sandra Bechtold of Jerseyville; her grandchildren, Michelle, Mathew, Tracie, Laura, Tyler, Erin, Trisha and Christopher; and her sisters, Pauline Brass and Helen Mulholland (Jim).
Memorials may be made to the Godfrey Knights of Columbus Hall, AKA McNicholas Club, the VFW Post 1308 Honor Guard or the 5A's Animal Shelter.
