It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Emma J. Bartels of Alton, Illinois, who passed away on March 1, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Schmidt and Luella Schmidt (Hunt); her sister Ella Mae; her brother-in-law Fred Lorts; her son-in-law Robert Bixen; her sisters-in-law, Verlene Schwalb, Alberta Ringering (Marvin), Judy Gooch (Robert), Janet Kanning and Beverly Bivens; and her niece Carrie Grimmer.
She is survived by: her husband Wilbert Bartels; her children, Keith Bartels (Annette), Kara Bixen and Kathryn Ragsdale (Timothy); her grandchildren, Christopher Bartels (Abby), Jacob Bartels, Daniel Bartels (Jayme), Noah Ragsdale, Lukas Bixen, Emmaly Ragsdale and Nicholas Ragsdale; and her great grandchildren, Kennedy Bartels, Kallyn Bartels and Lou Bartels.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Emmaus Lutheran Church (5215 Loop Rd, Dorsey, IL 62021). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
