We bid farewell to Elverna E. Tappendorf of Altamont, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 31, 2024 at the age of 92. Elverna touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Traugott Mercier and Johanna Mercier (Buth); her husband Delbert Harris Tappendorf; her siblings, Omer Mercier and Ruby Alwardt; her parents-in-law, Frank and Louise Tappendorf (Lucy); and her siblings-in-law, Lorraine Mercier, Victor Alwardt and Garland Tappendorf.
She is survived by: her children, Lynn Tappendorf (Pat), Dwayne Tappendorf and Glenda Nelson (Dale); her grandchildren, Chris Tappendorf (Casey), Brett Tappendorf (Dessa), Jeremy Nelson (Misty), Jared Nelson (Bethany), Jordan Nelson (Ann) and Mallory Tappendorf; and her great grandchildren, Jaiden, Camdyn, Everley, Brooks, Andrew, Leah, Clara, Conner, Rylan, Kayla, Tanner, Dylan, Grace, Ella, Claire, Carter and Cruz.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (2293 US-40, Altamont, IL 62411). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's food pantry, Lutheran Care Center, or the donor's choice.
