Sally Ann Cope Obituary
Sally Ann Cope, 66, of Algonquin, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022. She was born on August 29, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Kenneth Norris and Lois (Cullop) Norris. She grew up in the Irvington neighborhood, the eldest of six children: Penny (Ron) Bond, Lorraine (Chuck) Taylor, Karen (Jeff) Sylvester, Julie (Doug) Bullard, and Dan (Sue) Norris. She graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1973 and worked in office management in various fields. In 1983 she married Brian Cope with whom she had three children, Paul, Andrew, and Krista. Her family continues to grow exponentially with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sally has actively served churches in Indianapolis, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Illinois, creating mission groups wherever she went. While she called herself a 'Pastor's Wife,' Sally proved that her role in the ministry of Christ was never in the background, but her own ministry called by God. Instead of receiving a salary, she paid everyone with her joy and love. It was Sally's goal to reach into the places in communities where circumstances had left someone alone and bring them into a life of grace, spiritual healing, and purpose.
The world is a better place because she lived with us, and to this end, we ask that instead of flowers, please send memorials to the Congregational Church of Algonquin United Church of Christ (http://www.algonquinucc.org) where her mission of hope will continue .
Services of celebration will be in Indianapolis at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 2015 S. Arlington Ave. on June 10, 2022, visitation at 11 am and the service at noon (EDT) and the Congregational Church of Algonquin on June 12 at 10 am (CDT) (streaming live – details at the church website listed above).
