He was predeceased by: his parents, Austin Doty and Flossie Doty (Copley); his former wife Annetta Ellen Doty (Bunting); his son Kent Austin Doty; his wife Donna Doty (Painter); and his brother Richard "Dick" Doty.

He is survived by: his son Stanley Van Doty (Karen Jan); and his siblings, Bob Doty, Gary Doty, Joan Brandt, Mary Kennard and Linda Bare.
