He was predeceased by: his parents, Rolla Sawyer and Ruth Sawyer (Bailey); his wife Edith Garris; and his grandson Dallas Reid. He is survived by: his children, Debbie Perkins (Donnie), Steve Sawyer (Norma) and Randy Sawyer (Marcy); his grandchildren, Lacey Meserole (Scott), Justin Perkins (April), Greg Perkins (Emily), Neely Sawyer, Caleb Sawyer (Kirsten), Tina Sawyer Goen, Brandi Julian (John), Stephen Sawyer (Katie), Whitney McKim and Di Elle Rogers (Billy); and his brother Alan Sawyer (NormaLea). He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Samaria Baptist Church.
