She was predeceased by: her parents, Hubert Rushing and Mary Rushing (Kenny); her son Ted Dowdy; her grandson Dakota Ellis; her son-in-law Kenny Smith; her siblings, Daisey LaVarier and James Rushing; her brothers-in-law, Bill Shannon, Marvin Fannin and Dennis LaVarier; and her former husband Bill Dowdy.
She is survived by: her children, Sonya Smith, Tonya Prosise (Tim), Pat Compton (Johnny), Tom Dowdy, Mike Dowdy (Lora) and Chris Dowdy (Tammy); her sisters, Dorothy Fannin and Nancy Shannon; and her sister-in-law Kathy Rushing. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
