He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen; his parents, Francis Smith and Eileen Smith; and his sister Joan Beddow (Keith). He is survived by: his daughters, Colleen Moore (Jeff) and Eileen Gramlich (Eric); his grandchildren, Will, Alice and Charlie; and his siblings, Tina Egan (Jim), Anna Newton (Michael), Phyllis Middleton (Ian), Gertie Sykes and Phillip Smith.
