He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred H. Wernecke and Hulda C. Wernecke; his siblings, Alfred Wernecke (Dorothy), Norwin Wernecke (Norma), Laura Winkelmann (Lawrence), Leona Storck (Edwin), Gertrude Lunte (Milton) and Mildred Hackstadt (Oscar); and his siblings-in-law, Mildred Brinkman (Virgil), Gladys Brinkmann (Marvin) and Norman Hackstadt.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Wernecke of Addieville; his children, Alan Wernecke of LaGrange, KY and Lori Groennert (Dewey) of Nashville, IL; his grandchildren, Natalie Kiser (Phillip) of Batavia, OH, Justin Wernecke of LaGrange, KY, Angela Martin (Devin) of Bar Nunn, WY and Courtney Groennert of Bar Nunn, WY; his great grandchildren, Melanie, Landon and Owen Kiser; and his sister-in-law Lavayne Hackstadt of Nashville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John Cemetery Fund, St. John Building Fund, or the charity of the donor's choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
