We are sad to announce that on January 12, 2025, at the age of 88, Richard G. Simmons Jr. of Abingdon, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Richard may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard G. Simmons, and Florence M. Simmons, Sr. (Ahlborn); and his spouse Shirley Johnson. He is survived by: his stepson Rod Riggs (Christy) of Galesburg; his grandchildren, Connor Riggs, Collin Riggs and Lauren Riggs; and his close friends, George and Freda Schwaner.
Memorial may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
