Terry Gordon Blau Obituary
Terry Gordon Blau, 77, our cherished husband, father, and adored grandfather passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 25th, 2023 with his beloved wife, Connie, at his side. Terry was born on August 3, 1946, in Logan, Utah to Martin Vinton and Albertine Gerber Blau. He was the 3rd child and first son of five children. He came into this life with a head full of dark, wavy hair and was adored and spoiled by his two older sisters. Later, two more brothers would complete the family.
Terry's love of the outdoors started at an early age in rural Nibley, Utah and then on the family farm in Dayton, Idaho. He had a wonderful childhood growing up on the farm, helping in the garden, caring for the milk cows, feeding the chickens, and being chased by the big white rooster. During his early years he participated in 4H, scouting, and Boys State. He developed an early love and appreciation for the outdoors and all of God's creations. He loved being in touch with nature through camping, hunting, and going fishing every chance he got.
He graduated from West Side High School and enrolled at Utah State University where he graduated in Forestry and Hydrology. He spent several summers working for the Forest Service in the Salmon, Sawtooth and Ashley National Forests which fed his hunting and fishing fever. This eventually took him to Twin Falls where his best "catch" was meeting and marrying Connie Allen. They were sealed for time and eternity on March 13, 1975 in the Logan Utah Temple.
Terry and Connie welcomed 5 children into their family: Ryan, Julie, Jenny, Crystal, and Justin. Their children and 19 grandchildren were his greatest joy. He doted on every new grandchild and delighted in zapping them with his finger. He immensely enjoyed teaching his children to love nature and taught them the names of trees, flowers, and bushes. He loved to take the family camping, fishing, and on many vacations to explore new places. He loved to jump in the car for a road trip. Travel meant adventure and was always accompanied with a big bag of sunflower seeds.
Terry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and has served the Lord faithfully in many capacities. He served for 24 months in the London England South Mission in his youth, as well as missions locally at the Bishop's Storehouse in Burley and as a service missionary in the Twin Falls Temple. He served in many leadership positions and developed many lifelong friendships with those he served. He and Connie served together for 18 months in the Mississippi Jackson Mission. This was a highlight in their lives and a blessing to share this experience together.
Terry leaves a hole in our hearts that we will fill with lifelong memories. He will be loved and missed by his eternal sweetheart, Connie, and his children; Ryan (Destinee), Julie (Sai) Sayasounthone, Jenny (Brian) Coates, Crystal (Justin) Staley, Justin (Ariel), and 19 grandchildren; his sister, Julene (Harry) Rindlisbacher and brother, Reed (Robin). He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Leon, and a sister Katherine.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at 11:00 a.m.; with a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Twin Falls LDS 3rd Ward building located at 1680 Elizabeth Boulevard, Twin Falls, 83301. A viewing will also be held on Friday, December 1st from 6-8 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home, 2466 Addison Ave. East.
We would like to extend our heartfelt love and thanks to all our family and friends for the great outpouring of love we have received. Also, to the Vision's Hospice caregivers who have assisted us over the past three months, with a special thanks to Joel, Destinee and Makayla.
