Rebecca Ann (Davidson) Egbert Obituary

Rebecca Ann Davidson Egbert, 72, departed this life on the evening of 29 February 2020 in Twin Falls, Idaho. While surrounded by family members and other loved ones, Rebecca drew her final breaths and entered into eternity. As she crossed the veil, she was greeted not only by her parents, but also by the thousands of individuals for whom she worked tirelessly to ensure they could be together.

Born on 4 November 1947 in Eugene, Oregon, Rebecca – better known as “Beckie” – lived a life full of meaning and joy. The daughter of schoolteachers, Beckie loved learning and was always challenging herself to learn new things and improve herself. Beckie was a creator who taught herself to paint and do stained glass, growing especially passionate about cooking, sewing, and quilting.

Beckie grew up in Oregon and California, graduating from Helix High School in San Diego as a part of the class of 1965. She later attended San Diego State and Brigham Young University, ultimately graduating from the College of Southern Idaho with an Associate degree in nursing.

When she met Kendal Egbert in the summer of 1967, she knew almost instantly that they had something special. They were engaged on 10 July, exactly one week after they had first met. They began their life together when they were sealed on 4 June 1968 in the Los Angeles, California temple. At the time of her passing, they had been married for nearly 52 years.

Beckie’s selfless and giving nature led her to pursue a 40-year career as a nurse in the neo-natal ICU of the Magic Valley Regional Medical Center (now St. Luke’s hospital) in Twin Falls, Idaho. Providing life-saving care to struggling newborns was a highlight of her life.

Much of Beckie’s life was spent dealing with a plenitude of medical issues and dietary restrictions. However, despite the challenges she constantly faced, she always kept a smile on her face and was more concerned about how she could serve those around her. She was also known to “live on the edge” by sneaking the occasional spoonful of ice cream or bite of dark chocolate.

To Beckie, few things were more important than living the gospel of Jesus Christ and loving all those she came in contact with. She embodied the scriptural charge to “love one another,” and was an incredible example of what it meant to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Beckie is survived by her husband Kendal Egbert; her brother Larry (Mickey) Davidson; her sister-in-law Waive Stager Davidson; her children Tammy (Greg) Hubert, Natalie (Rick) Memmott, Andrea Egbert, Phillip (Coreen) Egbert; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Rebecca is preceded in death by her father Gerald Adam Davidson, her mother Ramona Lois Henderson, and her brother James “Jim” Lynn Davidson.

A celebration of Rebecca’s life will take place on Saturday, 7 March 2020, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel located at 2680 Elizabeth Blvd., Twin Falls, Idaho. Services will begin at 1:00 PM. There will also be a viewing at the Parks Magic Valley Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2020 and another viewing one hour preceding the funeral.
