Nancy Barba Bond Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Nancy Barba Bond (Twin Falls, Idaho), born in Newton, Massachusetts, who passed away on March 7, 2017, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
Bond, that is my mother-in-law, I'm Nancy". Over time it became I'm Nancy, I'm Mom, I'm Grandma and I'm GreatMa depending on her audience. Nancy never met a person that was not a friend and she tried to meet them all. Nancy was born on March 30th, 1935 to Charles and Janet Barba. She was born in Newton, Massachusetts. She grew up in St Louis where she was a speed skater. Between that and her love of skiing the winter Olympics were one of her favorites. She attended college at Colorado College and then New Mexico State. Her family moved to Taos, NM where she met her lifelong partner Dow Bond. They were married September 1, 1956. They had 61 great adventure filled years together. They were blessed with three children, seven granddaughters and thirteen great grandkids. Spent the early years of marriage following where the Navy sent them including a stop in Hawaii. Then spent the following years where the Forest Service sent them. New Mexico, Arizona and finally stopping in Twin Falls, Idaho for the last 41 years. Wherever there were people to talk to, that is where she loved to spend her time. If it was in the winter, you could find her a Magic Mountain. Where she taught hundreds to ski. She did that for over thirty years. Before that she taught skiing at Sunrise Ski Resort in Arizona. She last skied at 81 with her great grandkids. Growing up there were always signs around the house "Think Snow". It is only fitting that on her last day it snowed. For many years she spent many hours bowling with her bowling buddies. Traveling throughout the states to participate in tournaments. The bowling trips were more about the trip and not so much about the bowling. There were many great adventure stories that always came back from the trips. She loved spending time with all her many friends whether it be bowling, water aerobics or having the daily coffee with friends. Everybody that was fortunate to know Nancy knew she sewed and knitted. Over the years she has passed this knowledge on to daughters, granddaughters, friends and 4-H groups. Her sewing crafts have been given with love to almost everybody. She did go to many craft shows during the summer. Not sure she ever covered much more than expenses, but she would know and talk to everybody at the shows. Often taking one set of granddaughters to Mountain Momas and the other set she would go to Greeley every year for craft shows. She was always very generous with her talents, everybody either has a change purse or a curling iron cover. In the winter it was more knitting than sewing. There are many people still lucky enough to have a Nancy ski hat. Usually being finished in the car on the way to the ski resort. She was so accomplished she had a hat disqualified at the fair because the stiches were to tight and perfect and was told it was not hand made. With all that said there was nothing more important to Nancy than family. Anybody that ever talked to her, and that is a lot of people, could tell you about her family. She was very proud of her family and would let you know. At any of her kids and grandkids sporting events you could always look up in the stands and see her. She never missed a school program or a chance to volunteer to help out at the schools. Making Halloween costumes was at the top of her list. She made some of the most amazing costumes for her kids (up to a couple years ago), her grandkids and great grandkids. Usually putting the last touches on as you were walking in the door to start trick or treating. Nancy was preceded in death, and I know is looking forward to sharing her stories with, her mom and dad, Charles and Janet Barba, her son-in-law Bill Paden, her step mother Flo Ramming, step sister Babs Ramming and step brother Johnny Ramming. She is survived by Dow her husband, her brother Peter Barba, daughter Diane Paden of Greeley Co, son Wade (Sheri) Bond of Twin Falls, daughter Shirley Bond of Greeley Co. Grandchildren Stephanie (Trent) Korby, Patricia (Ryan) Welle, Whitney (Todd) Cook, Jessica Bond, Sydney Hullinger, Jenna (Fernando) Rodriguez, Nikki (Pete) Campbell. Great Grandchildren Emma, Will, Blake, Keaton, Maci, Nina, James, Vaughn, Henry, Kinsey, Carson, Rixon and Gracie. Impossible to fit all she has done and loved in these few paragraphs. At least we all still have her stories. We would like to thank the great ICU team for making her transition peaceful and to all those at MSTI that helped Nancy fight cancer at St. Luke's. You are all in one of mom's stories that she is still telling. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, 209 5th Ave. North, Twin Falls with Pastor Phil Price officiating. A viewing for family and friends will take place on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave. East, Twin Falls. A family graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Services are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be given to the Nancy Bond Memorial Fund set up at the Farmers Bank. Contributions may be given to funeral chapel staff or dropped off at any Farmers National Bank location.
