He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Nelson and Lillian Nelson (Smith); and his siblings, Jim, Dan and Ida Kristine.

He is survived by: his son Jeff (Tawny) of Troy; his brother Jack of Troy; and his children, Konnie (Malcolm) of Liberty Lake and Ken (Michelle) of Hayden Lake. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
