He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Orval Mckinley Paton and Kathryn Rupert; his wife Nancy Edgar; his nieces and nephews, Tammy and Patric Lane; his children, Natalie LaPan (Nelson), Daniel Paton (Kathy) and Kimberly Kernodle (Stratton); and his grandchildren, Grey Arones, Sara, James Byrne, Shayna, Mark Hutchins, Kevin Paton, Cyntia, Barry Sivadon, Sheldon, Marissa Kernodle, Skyler and Kristin Kernodle. He was also cherished by 6 great grandchildren.
