He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Bernard Means and Sydney Mark Dowton; his wife Maria Elena; his son Terry Dowton; and the parents of child, Clara and Syd Dowton.
He is survived by: his children, Jimmie Dwain Dowton (Denise) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kevin Dowton (Stacey) of Warden, Washington, Tracy Dowton (Angie) of Manhattan, Montana, Teresa Aiono (Faioso) of Herriman, Utah and Kimberli Schwenke of Challis, Idaho.; his siblings, Sydney Dowton (Karen), Clara Binford and Louetta Keef; and his sister-in-law Patty Jo Martin. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests supporting the May Cemetery/Grange Hall in memory of Jim.
