He was predeceased by: his parents, Marjorie Eva Birch and Elden Clark Birch; and his brothers, Eugene Archie and Gerald Dean. He is survived by: his sisters, Thayona M. Burnett and Frieda K. Flowers. He is also survived by two nieces and three nephews.

He donated an extensive gun collection to the Rupert History Museum.
